I've decided to do a modified paleo challenge over the next month to try to get my measurements going in the right direction (down). I was very bummed this weekend to realize physically things are worse than when I left STL. I really wanted to roll around on the floor crying, but tantrums won't solve anything.
Limited dairy, limited whole grains, no alcohol, mostly fruit, veggies & lean protein. Stepping up the workouts at the the same time : aiming for 2 a days as often os possible but at least on the days i can workout at lunch. Managed my first 2 a day today!!
If i don't see progress after this month, not sure what else I can do...hate that being healthy/in shape is such a challenge for me.
I tried losing weight the old fashioned way. I started running. But my bad ankle and my under pronation made it very painful. Stupid feet. So next was lifting heavy stuff at the gym. That I enjoyed. I went to the gym five days a week. It had the opposite effect on my weight. It made me hungry, so I ate. At my heaviest I was 254lbs. Most of the mass was right around the waist. I was pear shaped. Going to the gym actually made me feel worse.
ReplyDeleteSo when I wanted to drop some weight I dusted off the nerd side. I Goggled stuff, downloaded an app to track my calorie intake, bought a scale to track weight, BMI and fat mass. What really was a trigger for me was finding out what my base metabolic rate was.
I did some rough math and got a number that I felt good about. I realized that I was eating way more than I was burning. I slowly adjusted my calorie intake down to around 1900 a day. I backed off a little at the gym. I didn't really change what I ate (except for the fats), I just changed how much of it. A very long story short. I lost 54 pounds in 40 weeks. Now I'm actually trying to add some weight via lean muscle to help with the calorie burning.
Anyway, maybe you've already gone down that path. Sounds like you are still searching for what works for you. Good Luck.
Sorry for the long comment.
Don't apologize, it helps motivate me to hear from others how they fought this battle, found what worked and had success. I look forward your comments, nice to know a couple people out there are reading this.
