Something after death... a life left behind, rebirth of self. A new chance to continue the journey with increased appreciation, grace, sense of what is deeply important. Death does not limit itself to our physical form, to blood pulsing through our veins and hearts beating to unique rhythm...death and rebirth can be a conscious decision, to remove the thorns of past traumas and discover life again.

Day 70 - Back to Basics
For some reason, I am really drawn to the idea of an Atlas Shrugged type community that shirks corporate responsibility and politics in favor of a return to simplier times. Don't get me wrong, I've no illusion that it would be easy work to do tasks like farming, but more fulfilling in the sense that everything you do has some type of direct return.
Maybe my antisocial, damn the man tendencies are just on overdrive right now. Who ever thought of this 5 day work week, wasting your life away to pay for essentials like food and shelter, was an idiot.
What would be the thing you missed the most if life as we knew it ended and we (being people) would need to go back to a similar, basic way of life?

I'm not sure how I got here, the internet being the time sink/black hole that it is. I will say that the stay has been enjoyable. Personally I could live just fine with a simpler way of life. A few days a week I almost wish for it. I do know that the introvert in me craves for a world that simple.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris - guess my secret is out that I'm not the usual designer chick! I think its sad that everything we've created has taken us miles away from what was valued to our grandparents or great grandparents.
ReplyDeleteBesides that, it can be argued that a majority of these things that are supposed to make life easier or comfortable actually complicate things.
I think that it's environment that we grew up in. My grandmother still preserves all of her fruits and veggies. She refuses to eat anything out out of a can. The sad part is that knowledge will one day disappear because it has become cheaper (time and materials). I know enough of the "old ways", that if this way of life disappears tomorrow, I could survive.
