Something after death... a life left behind, rebirth of self. A new chance to continue the journey with increased appreciation, grace, sense of what is deeply important. Death does not limit itself to our physical form, to blood pulsing through our veins and hearts beating to unique rhythm...death and rebirth can be a conscious decision, to remove the thorns of past traumas and discover life again.
A multi-story brick structure with two entrances. Both easy to barricade. One would be an emergency exit. I would like the windows to be high enough that they could be left uncovered in the day. Natural light is all the rage.
The bunkers, fortresses, Walmarts of the world would be prime targets for looters. Ideally I would like to find a few houses that I could wall off to maximize the storage/farming/safe rooms.
Good ideas. I was thinking pretty much along the same lines, probably on higher ground to limit access even further. Hypothetically, I would build it before everything goes to hell, with an underground bunker for storage and extreme emergency only.
But, I would throw in or try to find some net zero, higher tech, off the grid stuff. Solar, geothermal, water filtering/collection systems. I'd need a crash course on how to maintain and do minor repairs to these systems beforehand. Who says living in the post-apocalyptic world has to be so harsh...maybe my optimism is just poking through..
